Tänzer und Choreograf. Weltweite Premieren und Tourneen mit seinen mittlerweile fünfzig abendfüllenden Choreografien haben Ismael Ivo zu einem Protagonisten des europäischen Tanztheaters werden lassen. Sein künstlerisches Interesse an der Erforschung eines Konzepts des Performativen Körpers führte zu zahlreichen gemeinsamen Projekten mit KünstlerInnen wie Heiner Müller, George Tabori, Márcia Haydée und Marina Abramovic. Das 1984 von Ismael Ivo und Karl Regensburger gegründete ImPulsTanz - Vienna International Dance Festival hat sich über die Jahre zum größten Tanzfestival Europas entwickelt. Er steht dem Festival als Repräsentant und künstlerischer Berater vor und wurde für seine Leistungen in Wien mit dem Goldenen Verdienstkreuz ausgezeichnet. Am Deutschen Nationaltheater Weimar war Ismael Ivo von 1997 - 2000 als Tanzchefchoreograf beschäftigt. In den Jahren 2005 bis 2012 war Ismael Ivo Direktor des International Festival of Contemporary Dance und der Sparte Tanz der BIENNALE DI VENEZIA in Venedig. Mit dem Ziel die professionelle Ausbildung auf nationaler Ebene in Italien auf ein neues Niveau zu heben, gründete er 2009 das Contemporary Dance Research Center Arsenale della Danza, das 2011 in den Kanon der ständigen Institutionen der BIENNALE aufgenommen wurde. Von 2013 an wird dieses Ausbildungsprojekt in Wien und São Paulo unter dem Namen Biblioteca do Corpo fortgeführt. 2013 wurde Ismael Ivo als Gastprofessor an das Max-Reinhardt-Seminar der Universität für Musik und darstellende Kunst Wien berufen. Für seine Leistungen im Bereich von Kultur und Kunst wurde Ismael Ivo mit dem Bundesverdienstkreuz Brasiliens ausgezeichnet, das ihm 2010 von Präsident Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva überreicht wurde.www.ismael-ivo.comDancer and choreographer. For this activity he was honoured with the Golden Cross of Merit of Vienna, Austria. The German National Theatre in Weimar appointed Ismael Ivo as chief-choreographer and director of the dance company from 1997 to 2000. Between 2005 and 2012 he was director of the International Festival of Contemporary Dance and the Dance Department of La Biennale di Venezia in Venice. With the task to upgrade professional formation on a national base in Italy, in 2009 he founded the Contemporary Dance Research Centre Arsenale della Danza, which was included in the constitution as a permanent activity of La Biennale di Venezia in 2011. From 2013 onwards the project for the Formation of Excellence in Dance will be continued in Vienna and São Paulo under the name Biblioteca do Corpo. In 2013 Ismael Ivo was appointed visiting professor by Max-Reinhardt-Seminar, University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna.
