DIE WURZEL aus WIR – On Radicality and the Future

21 to 25 October 2026
Tischlerei Melk Kulturwerkstatt

Radicality comes from radix – the root.

In this spirit, the Days of Transformation 2026 ask:

Where are the roots of our shared action, our stance, our democracy – and what future grows from them?

Between agitation and fatigue, the Days of Transformation 2026 search for forms of a “we” that is radically open to others and fit for the future.

With its scholarship programme, GLOBART invites a new generation of changemakers to take part in the festival and to experiment in the Weltklimaspiel© (World Climate Game) with uncompromising curiosity, playful seriousness and an appetite for change.

What it is about:

The motto of the Days of Transformation 2026 is DIE WURZEL AUS WIR (The Root of We) – On Radicality and the Future.

Artists, experts, scientists, activists and many other groups explore together how existing structures can be questioned at the root and how the future can be rethought in social, ecological and democratic terms.

The Weltklimaspiel© serves as a creative space for play and experimentation:

Guided by game developer and Weltklimaspiel© mastermind Matthias Mittelberger, the GLOBART scholarship holders take on the roles of decision-makers from business, politics, education and civil society.

In an interactive simulation game, you have one “century” to implement an economically, ecologically and socially sustainable social and economic order in the spirit of digital humanism – and experience how closely the climate crisis, democracy, justice and decisions about the future are interwoven.

Who is the scholarship for?

The scholarship programme is aimed at people aged 18 to 30 who are keen to think and act radically in the original sense of the word – at the root.

We particularly welcome:

  • Universities – students and early-career researchers from all fields, subject-didactics specialists and people working in civic education who want to experience and help shape new spaces of discourse for questions of democracy, climate and the future.
  • Companies – apprentices, young employees and emerging leaders who want to put social skills, teamwork, conflict resolution and future thinking into practice and carry them into their organisations.
  • NGOs and associations – people working in climate education, environmental education, global citizenship education, education for sustainable development, civic education, democracy education, youth participation, urban development and related fields.
  • Municipalities and politics – young politicians and representatives in youth councils, municipal bodies, political academies and similar contexts who want to translate visions of the future into local politics and concrete change.

In principle, the programme is suitable for all young people who see change management as a demanding but rewarding cultural skill.

What awaits you:‍

From 21 to 25 October 2026, become part of the Days of Transformation at Tischlerei Melk Kulturwerkstatt – as scholarship holders, as root-seekers and as players in the Weltklimaspiel©.

In concrete terms, this means:

  • Working, discussing, playing and celebrating with inspiring people in the special atmosphere of an interdisciplinary festival.
  • Taking part in the programme of the Days of Transformation with concerts, performances, keynotes, shows and unexpected encounters.
  • In-depth exchange with selected experts from education, climate issues, philosophy, politics, business and art.
  • Space to bring in your own projects, questions or research interests on radicality, the future, education, democracy or climate – from a school project to a doctoral thesis, from an apprenticeship programme to local politics.

In cooperation with Weitblick GmbH and other partners, GLOBART provides festival tickets, accommodation for four nights in Melk and meals. Travel to Melk is organised and paid for by the scholarship holders themselves.

  • Arrival: 21 October 2026, programme starts at 1 pm
  • Departure: 25 October 2026

Send a short letter of motivation (maximum 2,000 characters) and a CV by 9 October 2026 to: info@globart.at

In your letter of motivation, we are particularly interested in:

  • What you are currently working on – in your studies, job, NGO, company or elsewhere.
  • Where you want to change something “radically”, that is, at the root.
  • How you can carry the experiences from the scholarship programme back into your own environment.
