Awareness for more mindfulness

Being aware of the moment does not only affect our present. Its power goes way beyond. It impacts our past and forms our future. To be present enables us to respond wisely instead of falling into old patterns. This allows us to make peace with the past and co-create a future that is based on wisdom and compassion.

Furthermore, mindfulness equips us with tools to become aware of our thoughts and sentiments. That in turn brings speech, body awareness, feelings and thoughts in compliance. Thereby tranquility, sovereignty, wisdom and compassion are cultivated. In that way we do not only change the relationship with ourselves. Through the practice of mindfulness we also transform the relationship with each other and with our environment.

Scientists like Richard Davidson, Tania Singer and Jon Kabat-Zinn have already proven that mindfulness has a positive impact on our mental health and well-being, and how mindfulness positively affects our social behaviour.

At Max Planck Institute for Human Cognitive and Brain Science in Leipzig director Tania Singer and her team are researching how positively meditation can influence our behavior and, in a long term, how this changes our brain. This large-scale investigation, called ReSource project, is ongoing since ten years. The study already yielded new insights into meditation and training techniques that help reduce stress, increase the joy of life as well as improve social skills.

Mental empathy training can significantly expand the circle of those I feel compassion and understanding for. It teaches basic skills that everyone needs in order to become a responsible, tolerant global citizen. (Prof. Tania Singer, Max Planck Institute Leipzig)

These are the core competencies needed for the future. As a platform for social innovation, GLOBART is addressing the question of what defines humanity in the future, and how we are able to live together and succeed despite the ever-increasing challenge of globalization, acceleration and digitalization. Our goal is  to set new impulses, bring people together, to change our educational system in a way that allows us to integrate mindfulness as a toll to cope with the challenges that are affecting our lives.

Think ahead - Take action - Shape the future - that is GLOBART.

Since twenty years already, GLOBART is organizing interdisciplinary formats. Our goal is to create meeting places, where people off all ages and all cultures, people with different stories come together to share and exchange their very own ideas. We are opening up collective spaces for people to reconnect with themselves and their environment.

When it comes to working with children and adolescents serenity and empathy are essential. Especially today, it is important for young people to be guided towards a mindful way of dealing with oneself in order to master the challenges of growing up.
