The exhibition focuses on a cross-section of 100 works from each creative period of Josef Hofer. Born in 1945, he lives and works at the “Lebenshilfe Oberösterreich” in Ried im Innkreis, Austria since 1992. From 1997 onwards he attended the painting and drawing class led by art historian Elisabeth Telsnig. Hofer gained lasting international recognition in 2003 with his solo exhibition at the Collection de l’Art Brut in Lausanne, Switzerland. In 2004 he was awarded the European art prize “EUWARD”, of which Arnulf Rainer was one of its judges. Hofer’s works can be found in prestigious private collections and museums. In his work the male nude presents a major element, often put down on paper in fragments. As unique in its design poses the yellow-orange frame surrounding his figures and objects.
