Gabriel Markus

Since 2009 Professor Dr. Markus Gabriel holds the chair of Epistemology, Modern and Contemporary Philosophy at University of Bonn, Germany, where he is also Director of the International Centre of Philosophy and the transdisciplinary Centre for Science and Thought. He has been a visiting Professor at Paris 1-Panthéon Sorbonne in Paris and New School for Social Research in New York, where he is Director of the Institute for Philosophy and the New Humanities since 2020. Furthermore, Gabriel worked as a visiting Professor at University of California, Berkeley, and New York University. His most recent publications are “Fiktionen” (“Fictions”; Suhrkamp 2020) and “Moralischer Fortschritt in dunklen Zeiten” (“Moral Progress in Dark Times”; Ullstein 2020). Markus Gabriel became famous for being one of the founders of New Realism – an internationally known stream of contemporary philosophy.
