The members of the Executive Committee of GLOBart have unanimously voted that

Ernesto Cardenal

be the recipient of the 2009 GlobArt Award.

The award is to express our high esteem and appreciation of

Ernesto Cardenal’s lifelong relentless fight against oppression and injustice as suffered by the people of Nicaragua. It is to honor him as a representative of Liberation Theology, as well as one of Latin America’s most outstanding poets.
